August, it seems, has unfurled itself upon us almost overnight, bringing with it the start of the most glorious dahlia displays. Joining their other perfectly petaled friend, the hydrangea, in providing bloom bursts throughout the garden their August awakening never fails to delight. Noticing the complementary tones we carry in each bloom we couldn’t resist giving them joint pride of place in this month’s arrangement which should carry you through into the Autumn, thanks to its subtle colour palette.
3 x Coffee Cream Dahlia (19742)
3 x Autumn White Hydrangea (19068)
3 x Pink Babys Breath Gypsophilia (20106)
3 x Variegated Eucalyptus (19049)
1 x Gold Collared Tall Bottle Vase (22006)
It’s summer, none of us need to be slaving away at complicated recipes, so we’ve kept it simple once again! Here we follow one basic rule of floristry to the letter: “always odd numbers” and break another ever so slightly... Instead of the usual 1/3 focal flower, 1/3 filler, 1/3 foliage we’ve bumped up the focal flower ratio to give this arrangement some extra oomph! Simply cut your stems to height and arrange in a manner that pleases you in this gorgeously contemporary, gilded vase. Make the eucalyptus’s wired stems ‘dance’ with a little gentle teasing.
